MLB best home run bets for Friday 4/5: Candelario to light it up

We were unable to cash a home run bet on Thursday, bringing our two-day winning streak to an end. Let's ride into the weekend with a new winning streak by targeting our three favorite home run props for Friday's MLB slate.

Yandy Diaz (+350 FanDuel)

Rockies vs. Rays, 4:10 p.m. ET

Friday afternoon's game between the Colorado Rockies and the Tampa Bay Rays could turn into a home run derby. Not only is Coors Field one of the friendliest hitter's parks in MLB due to the altitude, but the wind will also be blowing strongly out to center field with gusts as high as 35 miles per hour.

Yandy Diaz led the Rays with 10 home runs, 32 RBIs and a .669 slugging percentage against left-handed pitching last season, making this an enticing matchup with left Austin Gomber on the mound. The Rockies starter has a 3.6 percent home run percentage in his career, and he gave up two home runs in his 2024 debut against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Ezequiel Tovar (+480 FD)

Rockies vs. Rays, 4:10 p.m. ET

With such perfect conditions for home runs in Denver, we're doubling up on Rockies-Rays with another pick. Ezequiel Tovar was third on the Rockies with 15 home runs last season and is one of just four Colorado hitters with a homer this year, but he's the highest-priced player on the team to go yard on Friday afternoon. We'll take the value on a capable power hitter.

Jeimer Candelario (+680 FD)

Reds vs. Mets, 6:40 p.m. ET

Home runs are also in the forecast at Great American Ball Park on Friday, as the wind will be blowing out to right-center field during the game. Jeimer Candelario slugged a career-high 22 home runs last season with the Washington Nationals and Chicago Cubs. The switch hitter is a bigger home run threat from the right side, and he'll be going up against New York Mets left-hander Jose Quintana. This is worth a sprinkle at a big price.
