MLB best HR bets: 3 home run props for Opening Day 3/28

We've finally made it to one of the best sports events of the year: Opening Day. MLB is hooking us up with 13 glorious games Thursday to kick off the 2024 season, and we can't wait to get back in the swing (no pun intended) of baseball betting. As we did for much of last season, let's hit up the Opening Day slate with three plus-money home run props.

Mookie Betts (+425 DraftKings)

This price doesn't make much sense to us. Betts was seventh in MLB last season with 39 home runs, and he went 6-9 with a home run and seven RBI in the Los Angeles Dodgers' two-game series against the San Diego Padres in Seoul. He also has two hits in five career at-bats against St. Louis Cardinals starter Miles Mikolas. Betts is as elite as they come at the plate. There's no reason he should be nearly double the price of Shohei Ohtani to hit a home run in any game.

Oneil Cruz (+700 ESPN BET)

We think Oneil Cruz is poised for a monster year at the plate. The rising star is fully healthy after missing nearly the entire 2023 season, and he's back to hitting laser beams. Cruz hit seven home runs in 46 Spring Training at-bats, and he led MLB in average exit velocity in the preseason. This price is so high because the Miami Marlins are rolling with left-hander Jesus Luzardo, and Cruz performs much worse against lefties. Still, +700 is too good to pass up for a player entering the season with a ton of momentum.

Wyatt Langford (+600 DK)

As if the Texas Rangers needed even more power in their lineup, here comes Langford. The No. 4 overall pick in the 2023 MLB Draft showed out in spring training with six home runs, 20 RBI, a .365 batting average and a .714 slugging percentage. The 22-year-old can mash the ball, and he'll get a chance right away to prove he belongs in this lineup for the entire season. Justin Steele does a good job of limiting home runs, but this price is too juicy to ignore.
