The Edmonton Oilers jumped out to an early lead against the Florida Panthers in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals, but they fell apart as the game wore on to cost us our Monday Look of the Day. We're looking for a bounce-back winner on Tuesday with our favorite MLB pick on the slate.
It's rare to see a first-place team priced as a home underdog against a below-.500 squad, so we have to take advantage of these situations when we can.
We understand why the Toronto Blue Jays are favored over the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday night. Toronto will be rolling with veteran left-hander Yusei Kikuchi, who's sporting a career-best 3.48 ERA and 1.217 WHIP this season, while Milwaukee is trotting out 22-year-old Carlos F. Rodriguez for his MLB debut.
Sportsbooks see that matchup as an advantage for the Blue Jays, but we're not so sure. Since the start of May, Rodriguez put up a 2.83 ERA, a 0.89 WHIP and a 29.2 percent strikeout rate in 35 innings of work in Triple-A. He throws six pitches with regularity, so it won't be easy for this Toronto lineup to time him up in its first time seeing him pitch. This is also a friendly matchup for Rodriguez, as the Blue Jays rank 29th in MLB in OPS against righties over the last two weeks.
Meanwhile, Kikuchi has hit a skid with 21 hits allowed and 11 earned runs over his last 14.1 innings pitched. If this is a close game late, the Brewers have a major edge with their sturdy bullpen against a Blue Jays unit that has the fourth-highest ERA in the league.
Give us Milwaukee as a home dog.
