MLB commissioner Rob Manfred shares intriguing take on Pete Rose

Pete Rose remains one of the most controversial figures in MLB history.

The former Cincinnati Reds and Philadelphia Phillies legend is currently banned from baseball in any capacity due to gambling issues.

Rose allegedly bet on baseball games as a manager and as a player.

For years, there has been a debate over whether or not Rose belongs in the Baseball Hall of Fame.

This week, MLB commissioner Rob Manfred was asked about his stance on Rose and whether or not he should be in the Hall of Fame.

Manfred’s response was an interesting one.

Manfred stated that he believes that Rose should not be allowed into the Hall of Fame, but that it was up to the Hall of Fame Board to decide whether or not Rose should be allowed in.

Manfred Comments On Pete Rose

This is an interesting take by Manfred, especially given that he is on the Hall of Fame board.

He did mention that it wasn’t his place to “get in front of those talks.”

But it is clear what Manfred’s stance on the matter is.

Manfred clearly does not believe that Rose belongs in the Hall of Fame and that because he bet on baseball, he belongs on the “permanently ineligible list.”

Whether the Hall of Fame board ever decides to let Rose into the Hall of Fame itself is still open for interpretation.

They have remained steadfast in their beliefs that Rose does not belong in the Hall of Fame for several years now, and their opinion may never change.
