MLB Draft littered with family legacies

Teams use the MLB Draft to bring an influx of new talent into their organizations each year. While the most die-hard of fans are familiar with many of the names, especially those on Days 1 and 2 of the draft, even the most casual of fans will often find themselves thinking a name sounds familiar.

The draft is always littered with family ties to former players and coaches. 

The staff at MLB.com has a rolling list tracking every familial legacy connected to this year's draft class. Their list includes numerous connections who only played in the minor leagues, as well as anyone with experience in a pro sport other than baseball. Nine picks from the draft's first two days have family connections with MLB experience. 

Jacob Wilson, SS, drafted 6th overall by Oakland

Jack Wilson spent 12 years in the majors, including seven in Pittsburgh where he was well-known for his glove. Jacob, also a shortstop, is now the highest-drafted player ever to come out of Grand Canyon University. 

George Lombard Jr., SS, drafted 26th overall by New York

George Lombard Sr. spent parts of six seasons in the majors before transitioning into a coaching role, currently serving as the bench coach for the Tigers. 

Myles Naylor, 3B, drafted 39th overall by Oakland

Myles has big shoes to fill, with a pair of brothers already in the majors. Bo and Josh Naylor both play for Cleveland. 

Paul Wilson, LHP, drafted 76th overall by Detroit

Paul's father, Trevor, pitched in eight seasons for the Giants and Angels. Both are left-handed. 

Homer Bush Jr., OF, drafted 128th overall by San Diego

A light-hitting utility infielder, Bush Sr. spent parts of seven seasons in the majors with the Yankees and Blue Jays. Both were originally drafted by the Padres. 

Nathan Dettmer, RHP, drafted 139th overall by Oakland

Nathan's father, John, made 12 appearances out of the bullpen for the Rangers in 1994-1995. 

Kyle Karros, 3B, drafted 145th overall by Colorado

Kyle is the third Karros to turn pro following a career at UCLA. His brother, Jared, is a pitcher in the Dodgers minor leagues but their dad, Eric, was a Rookie of the Year Award winner in 1992. 

Connor O'Halloran, LHP, drafted 157th by Toronto

Connor's father, Greg, was a Marlin in 1994 and received 11 plate appearances. 

Jonah Cox, OF, drafted 166th overall by Oakland

Jonah's father, Darron, a catcher, got into 15 games with the Expos in 1999 before moving into coaching.
