MLB is finally back in our lives with a full schedule of games on Friday, and we can't wait to pepper the slate with home run props. Here are our three favorite HR bets we're targeting for the final day of the week.
Phillies at Pirates, 6:40 p.m. ET
We're not going to stop backing Turner in the home run market, especially if sportsbooks are going to continue pricing him like this. The Philadelphia Phillies star went into the All-Star break batting .400 with six home runs and a .914 slugging percentage in his last nine games. Now he gets to face Pittsburgh Pirates starter Martin Perez, who's giving up a 9.1 percent barrel rate and a 42.8 percent hard-hit rate. We'll take the hottest hitter in baseball at a great price.
Mets at Marlins, 7:10 p.m. ET
We have no choice but to fade Edward Cabrera with a home run prop on Friday. The Miami Marlins starter gave up four home runs in his most recent start against the Cincinnati Reds, and he now has the highest barrel rate in the league among qualified pitchers (15.3 percent). Alonso knows exactly how to attack Cabrera, as the New York Mets slugger has already tagged him for three home runs in only 12 at-bats. Let's hope he lets out some of that anger after flaming out in the Home Run Derby.
Giants at Rockies, 8:40 p.m. ET
San Francisco Giants starter Kyle Harrison is another prime fade target for a home run prop because he throws his 4-seam fastball a whopping 61.1 percent of the time. That's partly why the southpaw ranks in the 10th percentile in barrel rate (10.3 percent). Harrison's high fastball rate plays right into Toglia's hands, as the Colorado Rockies first baseman has a .669 xSLG and a 61.9 percent hard-hit rate against 4-seamers this season. This game is also being played at Coors Field, which is always a friendly venue for dingers.
