MLB Makes Announcement Involving Alex Bregman, Pete Crow-Armstrong

Crow-Armstrong led the majors in August home runs, slugging percentage, extra-base hits, total bases and runs scored while finishing tied for second in OPS at 1.069. His 14 homers also helped the Cubs establish an NL record with 62 home runs in August.

His production has also strengthened his case in the NL MVP race. Through 139 games, Crow-Armstrong is hitting .280 with 38 home runs, 91 RBI and 100 runs scored while carrying an 8.3 bWAR.

Alex Bregman was also a major part of Chicago’s historic offensive month. The veteran third baseman hit 12 home runs and drove in 30 runs in August, posting a 1.025 OPS across 28 games.

Bregman then opened September with another three-homer performance against the Milwaukee Brewers, helping the Cubs set a franchise record with nine homers in a 17-3 victory.

The Cubs entered Thursday at 78-62, nine games behind the Brewers in the NL Central. They remain firmly positioned in the postseason race, with Crow-Armstrong and Bregman giving Chicago plenty of offensive firepower for the final stretch.

For Crow-Armstrong, the latest award adds another accomplishment to what has become a remarkable season. With September underway, his production will be one of the biggest storylines to watch as the Cubs chase October baseball.
