The San Francisco Giants started off the final month of the MLB regular season on Monday with a victory on the road in their first game of a three-game series against the Colorado Rockies.
Of course, it has not been the season the Giants expected as they hold a 69-69 record and sit third in the National League West division, nine and a half games behind the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Despite their struggles at times this season, San Francisco does sit just five games behind the New York Mets for the final NL Wild Card spot, though they would have to close out the final month of the season on a torrid stretch.
The good news for the Giants is that they will face the MLB-worst Rockies once again on Tuesday night and ahead of the game, the MLB made a major announcement regarding star first baseman Rafael Devers.
The MLB announced on Tuesday afternoon that Devers has been named Co-NL Player of the Week alongside Philadelphia Phillies slugger Kyle Schwarber.

Devers went on a tear at the plate last week as he went 11-for-27 that resulted in a .478 average to go along with five extra-base hits and 10 RBI.
Of course, Devers has played a key role for the Giants this season after they acquired him in a blockbuster trade with the Boston Red Sox earlier this year.
Since arriving in San Francisco, the 28-year-old slugger is batting .254 with 12 doubles, 14 home runs and 36 RBI.
Devers has also adjusted to his new role at first base very well after he refused to play first in Boston, which was one of the many reasons why the Red Sox traded him.
San Francisco is now hoping that Devers can continue his hot stretch through the final month of the regular season as they try to chase down the Mets for the final NL Wild Card spot.
