MLB NRFI & YRFI Predictions, Picks — Tuesday, June 24

Tuesday gives us three more picks, with hitter-friendly weather continuing throughout the majors.

Let’s dive into my MLB NRFI and YRFI picks and model predictions.

MLB NRFI, YRFI Picks — June 24, 2025

Pirates vs. Brewers NRFI/YRFI Prediction

Starting Pitchers: Andrew Heaney vs. Freddy Peralta

While this isn’t a Paul Skenes game, the Pirates have another starter with impressive early-game splits.

Considering their pathetic offense, that makes the NRFI appealing today.

Andrew Heaney’s first time through the order ERA is 2.51, and the Brewers are slightly worse against left-handed pitching with a 91 wRC+.

On the other side, Peralta has a 2.76 overall ERA that drops to 1.93 his first time through the order, and he’s facing a Pirates team that ranks 28th among MLB lineups against righties.

Additionally, with this one being part of the summer heat wave, the weather shouldn’t boost scoring.

Phillies vs. Astros NRFI/YRFI Prediction

Starting Pitchers: Ranger Suarez vs. Framber Valdez

At first glance, this doesn’t seem like a great YRFI spot, given the quality of the starting pitchers.

However, they’re both lefties, putting both offenses firmly on the better side of their platoon splits.

The Astros are the best team in baseball against southpaws, surpassing the Yankees with a 131 wRC+.

The Phillies rank a solid ninth, with a 4% boost to their wRC+ number.

More importantly, the top four hitters from both teams have better wOBA marks over the last two seasons against southpaws, including the reverse splits from lefty Kyle Schwarber.

That’s enough to take a shot at the plus-money lines we’re getting throughout the industry.

Red Sox vs. Angels NRFI/YRFI Prediction

Starting Pitchers: Garret Crochet vs. Tyler Anderson

We’re running this one back after it cashed spectacularly on Monday, with eight first-inning runs.

Most of the value is on Boston’s side, since Tyler Anderson isn’t anything special (4.56 overall ERA, north of 6 his first time through the order).

I’m personally splitting my exposure between the Red Sox team YRFI at +220 on DK and the full game YRFI.

While Garrett Crochet is outstanding, he’s somewhat worse early in games, and the Angels’ first few bats also hit lefties well.
