After going 0-2 yesterday, we now stand at 2-2 for the week. I’ve got two more picks on Wednesday, both for the evening slate.
Let’s dive into my MLB NRFI and YRFI picks and model predictions.
Starting Pitchers: Max Fried vs. Chris Bassitt
We’ve got a strength-on-strength matchup in Toronto tonight, as two solid starting pitchers take on two powerful lineups.
The 8.5-run total is a cautiously optimistic sign for the offenses, which feature four of the top 30 hitters by wRC+ in baseball getting guaranteed first-inning at-bats.
That figure doesn’t even include Jazz Chisholm Jr., who is likely to bat fourth for the Yankees and has a 164 wRC+ against righties on the season.
The top of the Blue Jays‘ lineup is also much more dangerous against lefties, which is a big boost in the matchup against Fried.
Both pitchers are solid enough that I wouldn’t take this one at a much higher price, but at close to even money, it’s worth it.
Starting Pitchers: Jonathan Cannon vs. Taj Bradley
I’m showing a slight value on the full-game YRFI in Tampa tonight, but the Rays drive the vast majority of that.
Besides being the much better offense, they also have a dream matchup with Jonathan Cannon.
Cannon has a first-time through-the-order ERA and xFIP both in the mid-fives, so he gives up a lot of early scoring.
I’m also interested in the Rays being the first team to score (-110 at BetMGM) as we could theoretically cash that bet in later innings. However, I prefer the Team YRFI at plus money, which I’m betting for half of a usual unit.
