MLB Reveals Rookie Honor for Brewers’ Jacob Misiorowski on Thursday

The Milwaukee Brewers have been on a tear. Despite a 7-3 loss to the Mets on Wednesday, they've won seven of their last ten games and are just three games behind the Cubs in the National League Central, showing signs of a team ready to contend deep into the postseason.

Milwaukee’s success is due to strong starting pitching and timely hitting. A big part of that pitching has come from 23-year-old Jacob Misiorowski. While he’s coming off his worst start of the year, he was nearly unhittable before that.

Those standout performances came in June and earned Misiorowski the National League Rookie of the Month award on Thursday.

Originally committed to play college baseball at LSU, Misiorowski was selected 63rd overall in the 2022 MLB draft. He signed with the Brewers on July 27, 2022, receiving a $2.35 million over-slot bonus.

After dominating in the minors, the right-handed starting pitcher made his major league debut on June 12 this year against the Cardinals. He threw five no-hit innings in that outing.

In June, Misiorowski pitched 16 innings, allowed just three hits and two earned runs, struck out 19 and walked seven. He picked up wins in his first three starts and posted a 1.13 ERA in the third game.

His first loss came Wednesday when he struggled, recording just 11 outs while giving up five hits and five runs. He allowed two home runs, walked three and struck out two. His 72 pitches marked a season low.

The Brewers head to Miami this weekend to face the Marlins before returning home to play the Dodgers starting Monday. Misiorowski is expected to pitch in that series against the top team in the National League.
