MLB Shares Shohei Ohtani Post After 30 Home Runs With Dodgers

The Los Angeles Dodgers may not be playing up to their full potential, but they have been winning games in bunches lately.

They came into Tuesday's game versus the struggling Chicago White Sox with the best record in the National League, and they were tied with the Detroit Tigers for the best mark in all of Major League Baseball.

While former MVP Mookie Betts is under par as far as his batting splits, Shohei Ohtani is crushing it once again, as he always does. On Tuesday, he hit his 30th home run of the season, which is notable given how early in the season it is.

Ohtani leads the NL with those 30 home runs, and he's currently tied with New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge for the second-most homers in all of Major League Baseball.

The two-way phenom also came into Tuesday leading the NL in both slugging percentage and OPS. Going into L.A.'s game versus Chicago, he had a batting average of .287 and 54 runs batted in.

He was named the NL MVP last season as he powered L.A. to the world championship. Right now, one has to figure he's on his way to winning his fourth league MVP.

Ohtani is also starting to return to pitching as well, albeit slowly. He has thrown multiple pitches of at least 100 miles per hour, which seems to suggest that he has at least some ability to remain a pitching ace once he fully returns to form.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts has been using him sparingly as a pitcher so far. He has pitched in four innings in three games, and his next start will come this Saturday at Dodger Stadium versus the Houston Astros.
