After a 2-1 start to the week in strikeout props, we fell back a bit with a 1-2 mark on Tuesday. We're looking to get back over .500 for the week with our three favorite K props for Wednesday's MLB slate.
Angels at Astros, 2:20 p.m. ET
We'd normally be the first to jump in and fade a left-handed pitcher going up against the Houston Astros, but this number is too low. Tyler Anderson ranks in the 64th percentile in chase rate and the 54th percentile in whiff rate this season, and his career 19.5 percent K rate against current Astros hitters is higher than his season mark of 17.7 percent. The Los Angeles Angels starter has cleared this number in seven of his nine starts this season, so let's make it eight of 10 on Wednesday.
Red Sox at Rays, 6:50 p.m. ET
The Tampa Bay Rays are a brutal matchup for Brayan Bello. In 63 career plate appearances against the Boston Red Sox starter, current Rays hitters are batting .407 with a 14.3 percent strikeout rate. Bello also hasn't been as effective since returning from his right lat injury earlier this month. In two starts since his return, the right-hander has given up seven earned runs and struck out only five batters. Don't expect those numbers to improve against a lineup that's haunted him for the last two seasons.
Rockies at Athletics, 9:40 p.m. ET
Austin Gomber isn't known for his ability to force swings and misses, but he's been pitching great this month. The Colorado Rockies left-hander has surrendered just one earned run over his last three starts, and he's cleared this prop in back-to-back starts against the San Diego Padres and the Texas Rangers. This is a much easier matchup against an Oakland Athletics lineup that ranks dead last in MLB in whiff rate (29.7 percent) and chase contact rate (47.9 percent). The As also rank 29th in strikeout rate (26.3 percent), and their K rate against lefties is even worse.
