What a week it was in strikeout props, as we went 2-1 on Friday to cap off a 10-4 stretch. That's nice and all, but the MLB season isn't slowing down now. We have another full slate of games on Monday night, so let's keep this streak rolling with another three-pack of K props to start the new week.
Yankees at Royals, 8:10 p.m. ET
Carlos Rodon is coming off a nine-strikeout performance against the Minnesota Twins in his last start, but it won't be that easy on Monday against the Kansas City Royals. Over the last two weeks, the Royals have the lowest strikeout rate in MLB against left-handed pitching (11.1 percent). Kansas City also has the fourth-lowest whiff rate and the third-highest chase contact rate in the league this year. We like taking unders with Rodon because he rarely makes it past the sixth inning, and this is a great matchup to fade him with.
Rockies at Twins, 7:40 p.m. ET
This is a great matchup for Chris Paddack to rack up a bunch of strikeouts. The Colorado Rockies have the fourth-highest strikeout rate against right-handed pitching this season (26.0 percent) and the highest over the last two weeks. Paddack's best skill is his ability to force opposing hitters to chase out of the zone, and the Rockies rank 29th in MLB in chase rate and chase contact rate.
Astros at Giants, 9:45 p.m. ET
This pick is similar to our Rodon under. Kyle Harrison has gone over this line in 11 of his 13 starts this season, but none of those starts came against the Houston Astros. The Astros have the lowest strikeout rate in MLB against lefties this season (15.6 percent), and that number even dips to 13.4 percent if you just look at the last two weeks. Houston also has the highest zone contact rate in the league, and Harrison throws strikes at a top-20 clip among qualified pitchers. The Astros will be able to avoid two-strike counts and put a ton of balls in play in this matchup.
