Shohei Ohtani is gearing up for another season with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2025. With the season opener coming up on March 18 against the Chicago Cubs, fans will get their first look at the new-look Dodgers.

During the 2024 MLB season, Ohtani ended up winning the National League MVP award. He put together huge numbers at the plate, but he was unable to pitch throughout the entire year due to recovery from Tommy John surgery.

Even though he didn't end up pitching last season, according to his ratings in "MLB The Show 2025" he is the best pitcher in baseball.

He was rated at a 99 overall, with Chris Sale being tied at No. 2 in the ratings alongside Tarik Skubal.

What makes his rating "surprising" is the fact that he hasn't pitched since 2023 and he's rated the best pitcher in baseball.

Throughout his career, Ohtani has been very good on the mound. He has made 86 career starts, compiling a 38-19 record to go along with a 3.01 ERA, a 1.08 WHIP, a 3.5 K/BB ratio, and 481.2 innings pitched.

At the plate, Ohtani has been even more dominant.

In 2024 with the Dodgers, Ohtani hit 54 home runs to go along with 130 RBI and slashed .310/.390/.646. He also stole 59 bases and was only caught stealing four times.

There is hope that Ohtani will return to the mound at some point this season. It's. not a guarantee, but the earliest return point for him could be the month of May.
