Los Angeles Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani has continued to prove his greatness in his eighth MLB season. Through 80 games, he’s batting .291 with 28 home runs and 52 RBIs.

Ohtani also returned to the mound this season after tearing the UCL in his right elbow and spending over a year and a half away from pitching. In two appearances, he has thrown two innings with two strikeouts and holds a 4.50 ERA.

Ohtani's play hasn't gone unnoticed. On Thursday, Major League Baseball announced that the three-time MVP "will be the National League’s starting DH at the All-Star Game."

After leading all National League players in Phase 1 fan voting with 3,967,668 votes, Ohtani earned an automatic All-Star bid alongside American League leader Aaron Judge, who received 4,012,983 votes.

After the MLB announced Ohtani's automatic bid to the 2025 All-Star Game, the 30-year-old took to social media to share a message.

"Thank you fans," Ohtani said. "Thank you for voting! See you in Atlanta."

This marks Ohtani’s fifth All-Star selection, having been chosen each of the past four years. In addition to his MVPs and All-Star honors, he’s a four-time All-MLB First Team selection and a two-time All-MLB Second Team selection. He also has won three Silver Slugger awards and two Hank Aaron Awards.

The Atlanta Braves are hosting this year’s All-Star Game at Truist Park. The game is set for 8 p.m. ET Tuesday, July 15, on Fox with the Home Run Derby taking place at 8 p.m. ET Monday, July 14, on ESPN.

The rest of the 2025 MLB All-Stars will be announced on July 6.
