33-year-old veteran shortstop Mookie Betts will play in his career 794th game with the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday.
That is the same number of games he played with the Boston Red Sox before he got traded in 2020, which makes it a symmetrical milestone achievement. The Dodgers will be looking to win the series in the rubber match against the Colorado Rockies on Wednesday night, as both teams have won a game apiece.
Despite his struggles with the Dodgers this season, logging a career-low .721 OPS, he also dealt with an oblique injury that sidelined him for five weeks. But Betts did, however, hit his career 300th home run in June, salvaging offensive numbers that have been below his usual elite standards.
But as of recent, Betts had shown a resurgence before a minor wrist injury, where he was on a hot streak by batting .373 (25-for-67) with a 1.065 OPS across a 16-game stretch.
The 2026 Dodgers, with Mookie Betts and Shohei Ohtani, are the 14th team to have multiple players hit their 300th career home runs in the same season 2nd time in Dodgers history: 2023 J.D. Martinez & Freddie Freeman Only other franchise on list twice: CHC 2010 Lee, Soriano & 1971 Williams, Santo

Betts has been one of MLB's unluckiest hitters this season, as his expected batting average (.281) is much higher than his actual average (.236), which indicates positive regression. As a key part of the Dodgers roster, Betts will be looking to make a turnaround in the second half of this season.
Last season, Betts saw a dip with his .258 batting average and a .732 OPS; however, he did show a resurgence with a .317 average across his last 47 games. Betts dealt with adversities during his tenure with the Red Sox, including contract discrepancies, offensive slumps and an unwanted trade.
Looking at the eight-time All-Star's career numbers with both the Red Sox and Dodgers, he has won three World Series titles with the Dodgers compared to one with the Red Sox. He has one batting title and MVP honor with the Red Sox and no batting title or MVP honor with the Dodgers. He has also recorded 139 home runs, 470 RBI and 965 hits with the Red Sox, alongside 163 home runs, 472 RBI and 855 hits with the Dodgers.
Lastly, with the Red Sox, he held a .301 batting average, 42.5 bWAR and an .893 OPS versus a .275 batting average, 34.1 bWAR and an .857 OPS with the Dodgers. Overall, his career numbers from the Dodgers and Red Sox are remarkably similar.
