Mookie Betts: Wearing Dodgers uniform was 'weird' at first

Being traded from the Boston Red Sox to the Los Angeles Dodgers wasn't exactly easy for Mookie Betts, and it definitely took some time getting used to wearing another team's colors.

“It was weird,” Betts said in an interview with Dodgers broadcaster Joe Davis. "It took my mom calling to say, ‘You look good in blue’ before I accepted it. Accepted the blue. It was super weird."

Betts may not necessarily have to get used to those Dodgers colors anyway. The right-fielder could end up never playing a regular-season game for LA with the season in jeopardy due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The 27-year-old is set to receive a hefty raise, and if he doesn't receive the money from the Dodgers, then he'll be moving on to another destination.

In six seasons with the Red Sox, Betts hit .301 with 139 home runs, 470 RBIs and an .893 OPS. He's a four-time All-Star, four-time Gold Glove award winner, three-time Silver Slugger, MVP, and 2018 World Series winner.

Betts is set to put together a solid 2020 campaign (if the season takes place) and it wouldn't be shocking if the Dodgers signed him to a major deal come the offseason.
