MRI on Brewers star Christian Yelich's back reveals no major issues

An MRI on Christian Yelich's back revealed no major issues, according to the Associated Press (h/t ESPN), and the Milwaukee Brewers are moving along with their plan for the star outfielder.

Yelich hasn't played since April 11 against the St. Louis Cardinals. He was eligible to come off the 10-day injured list on Saturday, but manager Craig Counsell said he had hit a "plateau" in his recovery and wouldn't be removed from the list.

The 29-year-old was slashing .333/.459/.367 with one RBI on 10 hits in nine games before hitting the shelf.

Yelich has dealt with recurring back soreness in all four of his years with the Brewers. It's unclear if he'll ever need surgery for the issue.

Milwaukee is 7-4 in Yelich's absence.
