Braves Country can take a sigh of relief, as the MRI on Ronald Acuña Jr. did not show an Achilles tear. He’s been diagnosed with a right calf strain, and according to Mark Bowman, could theoretically return in 2-3 weeks.
Acuna's Grade 1 right calf strain indicates he'll be on the team's anticipated timeline. They'll monitor his progress, but he could return within the next 2-3 weeks.

The Braves dodged a bullet, one that could have had a lot more people asking questions had the injury been more serious.
According to reports, Acuña suffered a calf injury on Monday night. Despite that, he lobbied to play and was allowed — an almost unthinkable level of negligence from everyone involved. Calf injuries can easily lead to something far more serious, especially for a player who has already torn both ACLs in the last five seasons. For a team that’s 16 games out of contention to gamble with the future of its franchise cornerstone is downright irresponsible. Everyone involved in that decision deserves to be held accountable.
Thankfully, disaster has been avoided, but the Braves are not out of the clear yet. They need to make sure Acuña is 1,000% healthy before they even consider letting him back on the field.
