New Red Sox Pitcher Makes His Future Contract Plans Clear

After a busy offseason that saw the Boston Red Sox acquire Garrett Crochet via trade with the Chicago White Sox and Walker Buehler via free agency, the team is in a better position than it was a year ago.

However, Crochet's future after the 2026 season is uncertain.

Despite that, he made it known where he would like to be.

On Wednesday, Crochets spoke to the media about his future beyond 2025 and talked about what it would mean to him to be able to stay in a city like Boston.

Crochet is just 25 years old and will enter his fifth season as a major leaguer. He will make $3.8 million this season before entering another arbitration season in 2026 and then becoming a free agent prior to the 2027 season.

Boston could, however, give Crochet a contract extension and keep him for the foreseeable future.

When giving up the type of haul that the Red Sox gave up for Crochet, it would make a ton of sense to keep him in the organization for as long as possible.

Getting just two years from the hard-throwing left-hander and letting him walk in free agency feels like it would be a mistake if it were to happen.

2025 will be a big season for Crochet to prove to the organization that he can stay healthy and is worthy of a long-term extension.
