The New York Mets acquired Relief Pitcher Tyler Rogers from the San Francisco Giants on Wednesday. New York sent Pitchers Blade Tidwell, Jose Butto, and Outfielder Drew Gilbert to San Francisco in the deal. Rodgers has been great in 2025. He is 4-3 with a 1.80 ERA. How will Rogers fit with the New York Mets?

New York’s two deadline moves have bolstered a shaky bullpen. They acquired Relief Pitcher Gregory Soto from the Baltimore Orioles last week. Soto and Rogers will provide the New York Mets with a formidable bullpen combination. New York’s bullpen has been injury-riddled in 2025. They have struggled at times to get outs once their starting pitcher gets replaced. Setting the stage for Closer Edwin Diaz has also proven to be difficult for the Mets.

President of Baseball Operations David Stearns said he was going to be aggressive at the deadline. He has lived up to that. With 24 hours left until the deadline passes, it is anyone’s guess what Stearns has up his sleeve. New York is reportedly still looking to acquire a starting pitcher, a third baseman, and an outfielder.
