The New York Mets have landed Vladi Guerrero.
No, not Vladimir Guerrero Jr., as was suggested by MLB dot com lately. It’s Vladdy’s younger brother, 17-year-old Vladi Miguel Guerrero, who’s expected to sign with the Mets when international free agency opens in January.
Sources: Mets are expected to sign Vladi Miguel Guerrero during the 2024 IFA period that begins on January 15th.

Not much is known about the 17-year-old other than the fact that he plays outfield and hits from the left side of the plate. There’s a video from Héctor Gómez of him hitting a tank at what looks to be Tropicana Field in 2021, but he doesn’t rank as a top 50 International Free Agent prospect.
As you may recall, the Texas Rangers also signed a Guerrero brother during the last IFA period, as they agreed to terms with Pablo Guerrero on a deal with a $97,500 signing bonus. In his first professional season, the outfielder slashed .224/.361/.360 with four homers with one of Texas’ Dominican Summer League teams.
The most well-known Guerrero is Vladimir Guerrero Jr., who, of course, plays for the Toronto Blue Jays. The first baseman slashed .264/.345/.444 with 26 homers in 682 plate appearances with the Jays, but is a three-time all-star, Home Run Derby winner, and American League MVP runner-up.
Baseball runs in the Guerrero bloodline, as even Hall of Famer Vladimir Guerrero Sr.’s brother played in the Majors. From 1996 to 2004, Wilton Guerrero slashed .282/.308/.369 with 11 homers in 1797 plate appearances. Both he and Guerrero Sr. are uncles to Gabriel Guerrero, who had 18 plate appearances with the Cincinnati Reds in 2018, hitting a home run. Gabriel Guerrero was even briefly a part of the Blue Jays organization, signing a minor league deal in late January 2020.
According to Gómez, Guerrero has five sons, four daughters, and two grandkids. The Tweet below lists Miguel Guerrero (eligible in 2025) and Gabriel Jose Guerrero (eligible in 2027) as sons. It also mentions Wilton Guerrero Jr., who is Wilton Guerrero’s son and Vlad Sr.’s nephew.
