The New York Mets are making history this season both on the field and in the stands. For the first time since Citi Field opened(2009) the New York Mets are top five in the league in average attendance at home games. The Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Yankees, San Diego Padres, and Philadelphia Phillies are the only teams with better home attendance than the Mets. Mets fans have been treated to a great on-field product. They have the most home wins(27) in the league.
New York’s attendance has been a welcome sight this season as team Owner Steve Cohen expressed his displeasure last year with the team’s attendance. Cohen was not happy that Citi Field was not as crowded as it could have been in 2024 while New York made their playoff push. Will New York Mets fans continue packing Citi Field as the regular season continues?

New York has been great this year. At 45-24, they have the league’s best record. New York’s offense has been respectable. They are 13th in batting average, sixth in home runs, and seventh in home runs. First Baseman Pete Alonso has been stellar. He is top 10 in the league in home runs, RBI, and OPS. Right Fielder Juan Soto has also found his form after an uncharacteristically slow start.
The team’s pitching staff has been one of the league’s best. They are leading the league in ERA, fourth in opposing batting average, and fifth in strikeouts. New York’s pitching staff sustained a major injury in yesterday’s game when Kodai Senga sustained an injury that will place him on the IL. They will need to rely on their depth to keep winning games.
New York will look to continue their success at Citi Field when they welcome the Tampa Bay Rays to town for a three-game series beginning tonight. If the New York Mets can continue playing this well, no team will want to face them at the venue late in the season.
