New York Mets Right Fielder Juan Soto’s performance helped the Mets defeat the Atlanta Braves 7-3 on Wednesday. The star right fielder hit a solo home run in the bottom of the 4th inning. He added another solo shot in the bottom of the 7th. Soto’s multi-home run performance put him in rarefied air.
It was his 27th multiple home run game before turning 27. His performance last night broke a tie with Jimmie Foxx to be the leader in this category. Soto should be able to extend his lead in this category. He does not turn 27 until October 25. The star player has found his form after an uncharacteristically slow start to the regular season. He is hitting .325 in June with 10 home runs and 18 RBI, Will he keep swinging the bat this well?
SOTO HOMER AGAIN
Most multi-homer games before turning 27:
Juan Soto: 27
Jimmie Foxx: 26
Mel Ott: 25
Eddie Mathews: 25
Alex Rodriguez: 25— Sarah Langs (@SlangsOnSports) June 26, 2025
Soto has been one of the best players in Major League Baseball since debuting with the Washington Nationals in 2018. He is a five-time Silver Slugger, a four-time MLB All-Star, and a World Series champion(2019.) He has also won a batting title and has five top-10 finishes in MVP voting.
Soto’s career has included stints with the Washington Nationals, San Diego Padres, New York Yankees, and New York Mets. The 2025 season brought with it the most pressure in the perennial all-star’s career. He signed the most lucrative contract in league history with the Mets in December 2024. Following a strong June, he is beginning to live up to those lofty expectations.
Soto and the Mets return to the diamond this evening for the final game of their four-game set against the Atlanta Braves. If the all-time great can continue his success at the plate, New York’s offense will get back on track and the Mets can start winning again.
