New York Mets Roster moves 4/14

The New York Mets are 6-8 on the year and third in the NL East. They have won two of their last three one against the Braves and they’ve split the series so far with the Kansas City Royals. They look to win the series today against the Royals before hosting the Pittsburgh Pirates to start next week.

LHP – Tyler Jay

The Mets optioned Jay to Triple-A Syracuse Mets. He pitched four innings over two games for the Mets. He allowed five hits, one earned run, one walk, and struck out one. He has a 2.25 ERA and a 1.50 WHIP in two games with the Mets.

RHP – Jose Butto

The Mets recalled Butto from Triple-A to make the start Sunday. Butto made one start already for the Mets this season going six innings without factoring in the decision. He allowed three hits, one earned run, three walks, and struck out six. He has a 1.50 ERA and a 1.00 WHIP on the season.

RHP – Grant Hartwig

The Mets recalled Hartwig from the Syracuse Mets today. He has pitched in five games working six innings. He has one win on the year and one save. He has allowed seven hits, four earned runs, three walks, and struck out four. He has a 6.00 ERA and a 1.67 WHIP with the Syracuse Mets.

RHP – Cole Sulser

The Mets optioned Sulser today sending him back to the Triple-A Syracuse Mets. He worked in three games and pitched 3.2 innings for the Mets. He allowed five hits, four earned runs, three walks, and struck out four. He has a 9.82 ERA and a 2.18 WHIP while pitching for the Mets.

The Mets continue to jockey their pitching optioned between Triple-A and the majors as they try and figure out what’s going to work best right now. All signs to them doing what they have to before eventually calling up top prospect Christian Scott to have him join the rotation. Until that eventually happens expect to see a steady series of call-ups and sends downs as they manage this pitching staff.
