New York Mets Right Fielder Juan Soto had a great game this afternoon at home against the New York Yankees. He hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the 1st, a double in the bottom of the 3rd, and a single in the bottom of the 5th. He ended the game just a triple short of his first career cycle.
Soto’s performance helped the New York Mets prevail 6-5. The right fielder was named the National League Player of the Month for June. He responded to that honor with a great game. To make his performance even sweeter, Soto was booed heavily in The Bronx when these teams faced off in May. It must have felt good for him to exact some revenge against his former ballclub on Independence Day. Will he be able to carry this momentum into upcoming games?

Soto has been one of the best players in Major League Baseball since debuting with the Washington Nationals in 2018. He is a five-time Silver Slugger, a four-time MLB All-Star, and a World Series champion(2019). He has also won a batting title and has five top-10 finishes in MVP voting.
His career has included stints with the Washington Nationals, San Diego Padres, New York Yankees, and New York Mets. The 2025 season brought with it the most pressure in the perennial all-star’s career. He signed the most lucrative contract in league history with the Mets in December 2024. He is beginning to live up to it.
Soto and the New York Mets return to the diamond tomorrow afternoon for the middle game of their three-game set against the New York Yankees. The perennial all-star has reminded the league he is one of the best hitters in the game. That is a great sign for a Mets team with championship aspirations.
