New York Mets Third Baseman Ronny Mauricio had a career game last night on the road against the San Francisco Giants. He had his first career 4-hit game as New York prevailed 5-3. He had two doubles, a home run, and a single. He was only a triple short of the cycle. Mauricio’s season has not gone according to plan. He is hitting .252 with 5 home runs and 8 RBI. Will the young third baseman be able to keep it going?

Ronny Mauricio Career Summary

Entering the 2024 season, Mauricio was the No. 6 prospect in New York’s farm system. Unfortunately, he has been unable to live up to those lofty expectations. The third baseman could not perform at a high enough level to become the team’s everyday third baseman. The New York Mets keep waiting for him to pop, but he has not been able to.

Mauricio may also be on his way out of town this week. He has found himself in discussions surrounding the 2025 MLB Trade Deadline. President David Stearns said the ballclub will be aggressive at the deadline. The Mets have an overcrowded infield. They will need to part with one or more of those prospects to acquire a few key pieces. It remains unclear if the third baseman’s performance last night will keep him in Queens.

Final Thoughts

New York will go for their seventh consecutive win tonight when they visit the San Diego Padres. If Mauricio’s performance was a sign of things to come, it could be a memorable Sunday in Queens.
