Following a tough loss to the Philadelphia Phillies, the New York Yankees were dealt another bit of bad news. Star Right Fielder Aaron Judge is headed to the IL with an elbow injury. He missed today’s game as a precaution after sustaining the injury earlier this week. Manager Aaron Boone said that Judge will DH once he is healthy enough to return to the diamond. How will the New York Yankees fare without Judge?
Judge is putting together another MVP-caliber campaign. He is leading the league in batting average, second in home runs, second in RBI, leading the league in OBP, first in Slugging Percentage, and leading in OPS. The offense of the New York Yankees goes as Judge goes.
In Judge’s absence, Paul Goldschmidt and the newly acquired Ryan McMahon will need to carry the offensive load. The Yankees have fallen on tough times as of late. They are now six games back of the American League East lead. New York must find a way not to fall further behind without the heartbeat of their ballclub.
