Why It's Only a Matter of Time for Ian Premer

Notre Dame might have a couple of veteran tight ends on the roster that are excellent blockers, but it doesn't have a player with the body type of Premer that can do the same things athleitcally as him, especially in the red zone.

Premer is listed at 6-6, 245 pounds, but moves more like a basketball player than a giant tight end. That's something Notre Dame simply doesn't have on the roster besides him, and even with the experienced bodies ahead of him on the tight end depth chart, none of them can do what he does as a pass catcher.

It's going to take a little bit of time for Premer to learn the full playbook, as he didn't participate in spring practice, but sometimes you just can't keep talent off the field.

Notre Dame's wide receivers figure to be improved (tap me if you've heard that before) but tight ends as pass catchers aren't exactly a strength. Even if he doesn't play a whole lot while getting the ball down field, I expect to see Premer on the field sooner than later in the red zone.

Three More Freshmen Highlighted in Touchdown Pass

While Premer's impressive reception deserves attention, quarterback Teddy Jarrard is also highlighted by throwing a pair of touchdown passes in that above highlight.

Both are fine passes, as freshman Dylan Faison hauls in the first for a score and freshman Devin Fitzgerald makes an impressive grab on the other.

They're highlights and we don't see the lowlights from the day or really any practice for that matter, but a quick look at these show why the freshmen pass catchers coming in do so with so much excitement.
