Offense Shut Out As Dodgers Drop Series Against Diamondbacks

The Los Angeles Dodgers had their offense shut down by the Arizona Diamondbacks as they lost the rubber match, 6-0, to drop the series at Dodger Stadium.

Both offenses didn’t have much going for them early in the game as Tyler Glasnow and Ryne Nelson were both sharp. That was until the fifth inning, when the D-Backs rallied to take the lead.

A walk from Gabriel Moreno and a single from Kevin Newman set the stage, and Corbin Carroll came through with a two-run triple to put the Snakes up. Glasnow then followed with a wild pitch that allowed Carroll to score the third run of the inning.

Glasnow finished his day going just five innings, giving up three runs on four hits with one walk and six strikeouts. It was his second straight start of going just five innings, which followed a stretch of four games going six or more innings.

The Diamondbacks added another run in the sixth inning after Elieser Hernandez replaced Glasnow. Christian Walker greeted the fresh arm with a solo home run as he continues to torment the Dodgers throughout his career.

Ryan Yarbrough replaced Hernández, and he allowed a home run to Ketel Marte to begin the eighth inning, giving the D-Backs a five-run lead. They ended up scoring another on a passed ball.

The Diamondbacks started a reliever but went to Nelson with two outs in the first. Nelson ended up going five innings, while giving up five hits and three walks with five strikeouts.

The Dodgers had some chances to score, getting runners into scoring position with less than two outs multiple times, but left them stranded each time. They finished the game going 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position, leaving eight men on base.

Gavin Lux lone bright spot for Dodgers

The good news is Gavin Lux continued to swing the bat well. He picked up two hits in three at-bats, including a double.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts has been impressed with Lux’s play as of late and believes the second baseman is trending in the right direction and close to getting into a consistent rhythm at the plate.
