The Baltimore Orioles acquired right-hander Scott Blewett from the Atlanta Braves in exchange for cash considerations on Friday. To open a spot for him on the rotation, the Orioles have designated outfielder Jordyn Adams.
Ramón Laureano was reinstated from the 10-day injured list and will fill in Adams' spot.
Blewett was supposed to be designated for assignment by the Braves after his last appearance Thursday, in which he allowed five earned runs in 1.1 innings against the Arizona Diamondbacks en route to their ninth inning comeback. Still, Atlanta decided to trade the right-hander.
The 29-year-old is an Oriole alum as he appeared in two games with the club back in April before being dealt to Atlanta. Blewett currently has a 3.91 ERA and 1.42 WHIP in 25 innings pitched this season.
Adams, a first-round draft pick in the 2018 MLB draft, was once a top prospect for the Los Angeles Angels farm system. The Angels designated Adams for assignment in November 2024, but with no suitors for a trade, he was ultimately non-tendered and sent into free agency. The Orioles signed the outfielder to a minor league contract in December 2024
