Baltimore Orioles catcher Maverick Handley left Sunday's game against the host New York Yankees in the second inning following a collision at the plate with Jazz Chisholm Jr.

With two outs in the second, DJ LeMahieu lined a single to left field and Chisholm scored from second base. Chisholm collided with Handley up the line and the Yankee third baseman's elbow appeared to hit the rookie in the head.

After trainer Scott Barringer and interim manager Tony Mansolino checked him out, Handley was replaced by Gary Sanchez.

The collision continued a rough weekend for Baltimore's catchers. Adley Rutschman was scratched after batting practice on Friday and placed on injured reserve one day later with a strained left oblique.

Rutschman, who is on the injured list for the first time in his career, is expected to be sidelined through the All-Star break.
