Orioles catcher, top MLB prospect Adley Rutschman to miss at least two to three weeks with triceps strain

The Baltimore Orioles have not made the playoffs since 2016 and expectations for fans and media alike are that even with the expanded postseason field this year, that drought won't be ending in 2022. One expectation that has been garnering excitement for the O's around spring training though has been the incoming MLB debut of top prospect Adley Rutschman.

It looks like that the catcher's first taste of major league action is going to be put on hold.

According to The Athletic, Rutschman was "in the hunt" to make Baltimore's Opening Day roster, but most likely won't now due to the injury. The 24-year-old was selected by the Orioles with the first overall pick in the 2019 MLB June Amateur Draft and the league's top prospect, according to Keith Law of The Athletic.

The Oregon St. product produced a .271/.392/.508 slash line in Double-A last season, while going for .312/.405/.490 with the Triple-A Norfolk Tides.
