The Baltimore Orioles have endured a challenging season thus far, currently holding a 33-44 record that leaves them at the bottom of the AL East and 6.5 games out of a wild-card spot. The organization is still reeling from its postseason disappointment last year—a sweep in the AL Wild Card series by the Kansas City Royals, highlighted by an offense that disappeared, producing just one run in both games.

Pitching struggles are evident in the 2025 season, as the Orioles rank 27th in ERA, while the offense has been equally inconsistent, averaging a lowly 3.9 runs per game (24th in the league) and posting poor OPS numbers (21st overall).

Notably, infielder Jordan Westburg, who emerged as a bright spot after his 2023 debut, has seen his offensive numbers decline, contributing significantly to the team’s ongoing disappointments.

After jamming his left index finger while stealing second base on Saturday against the New York Yankees, Westburg missed the series finale on Sunday, but now appears to have avoided a stint on the injured list.

According to interim manager Tony Mansolino, Westburg is out of the lineup on Monday, but expected to play as early as Tuesday, with a full return by Friday at the latest.

Drafted by the Orioles in the first round (30th overall) of the 2020 MLB Draft out of Mississippi State University, Westburg excelled at the minor league level before making his debut and earning a spot on the AL All-Star team last year.

Westburg will look to salvage a season in which he has has experienced a drop-off in play, appearing in 34 games, registering a .229 batting average along with 7 home runs, 14 RBIs and one stolen base.
