BALTIMORE–Dissatisfied with their catching, the Orioles purchased the contract of Austin Wynns from Triple-A Norfolk and optioned Chance Sisco to the Tides. In order to make room for Wynns on the 40-man roster, the Orioles placed infielder Richie Martin on the 60-day injured list with a fractured left wrist.

Sisco was hitting .154 in 23 games this season. He has three RBIs, and his OPS is .431. The 26-year-old, who was the Orioles’ second-round draft pick in 2013, has a lifetime batting average of .199 in five seasons with Baltimore.

Wynns, who is 30, was the Orioles’ 10th round pick in 2013, and hit .239 with five home runs and 16 RBIs in 70 games with the Orioles in 2018 and 2019. He was hitting .333 with three homers and nine RBIs in 15 games at Norfolk.

Martin fractured his wrist playing center field for the Tides on May 18, and is expected to miss between eight and 12 weeks.
