The Baltimore Orioles have shockingly fired manager Brandon Hyde after a slow start to the season. Baltimore has gone 15-28 on the year so far.
After being one of the better teams in the American League over the past few years, the Orioles have regressed this season. The front office clearly believes that by letting go of Hyde, things may be able to change.
It's strange to see a manager be let go this early into a season, but the Orioles are likely looking to not waste this year. There is still plenty of time left to go in the season, and Baltimore could still make a run toward the playoffs.

Hyde entered the season with some questions about his future with the team, given that Baltimore hasn't done much in the playoffs. The Orioles were swept by the Kansas City Royals in the wild-card series last year and were also swept by the Texas Rangers in the division series the year before.
Despite some strong success in the regular season, Baltimore crashed when the lights got to be the brightest. Mixing the lack of postseason success with the slow start this year, Hyde was never going to last long if the team didn't improve.
The Orioles have the worst ERA in the American League, coming in at 5.33. Baltimore should be much better than they have been, and Hyde is the first domino to be moved in this process.
Baltimore will now go forward in the hope that this move helps to spark a turnaround this season.
