Padres Notes: Good not Great, Bad News for Morejon, Trade Deadline Questions Continue
USA TODAY Sports

With a loss to the Detroit Tigers Sunday Afternoon, the Padres cannot reasonably claim any momentum following the All-Star break.

In series against the Phillies, Blue Jays and Tigers, San Diego went 5-5, failing to gain much ground in their battle for a spot in the NL Wild Card. With 62 games remaining in the 2023 season, the Padres sit six games behind in the race for the last spot in the Wild Card.

In other news, Adrian Morejon is struggling to return to the big leagues, the chances of a Shohei Ohtani trade this season continue to decline, and the Padres' upcoming series against the Dodgers was flexed to ESPN's Sunday Night Baseball.
