Padres Postgame: San Diego Drops Both On Split Squad Day
USA TODAY Sports

The San Diego Padres kept their starters at home against the Los Angeles Angels and sent their split squad to play the Milwaukee Brewers.

They lost both.

The home squad dropped their game 5-3 and the split squad lost theirs 4-3.

Designated hitter Tim Locastro was the lone Padre to have a multi-hit afternoon. In his first start since signing with San Diego on Wednesday, the outfielder was 2-for-3 with a double, a run scored, a run batted in, and a walk.

Randy Vásquez went three innings in his second start of the spring. He gave up one run on one hit and struck out four.

The split squad was led by Cal Mitchell's two-hit day which included a triple and an RBI.

Drew Thorpe had a great day out of the bullpen, only allowing one hit in two innings. He struck out four.

Here are some highlights from both games:

There weren't a whole lot of highlights but Locastro was the focus of social media on Friday.

San Diego travels to Scottsdale on Saturday to play NL West foe San Francisco at 12:05 p.m. PT.
