Padres Top Prospect Caught with Foreign Substance, 2nd Time since 2021

It hasn't been getting any easier for Padres pitcher Anderson Espinoza. Espinoza got ejected after a foreign substance check for the second time in three seasons. 

According to Padres insider for the San Diego Tribune Jeff Sanders, Umpire Sam Burch tossed him after the first inning in, which was a calm but long conversation. 

Espinoza served a 10-game suspension after being caught for a foreign substance check in July 2021. The league started implementing the checks in 2021, and Espinoza still has not learned his lesson. A punishment has yet to be handed down, but it will come sooner or later. 

The Friars signed Anderson to a minor league deal in mid-December. He returned to the team whom he had spent half a decade with. In his time in the majors, Espinoza is 0-2 with a 5.40 ERA, 19 strikeouts, and a 1.64 WHIP in seven games and 18.1 innings pitched. 

This is not a good sign for the 25-year-old. He clearly hasn't learned his lesson, and it's discouraging to hear for Padre fans.
