Another minor league season has come and gone, meaning it’s time to update our top 30 prospects list for the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Our three-man staff here at Pittsburgh Baseball Now each submit our individual top 30 rankings and each prospect ranking is averaged to determine positioning in the top 30.

The top of our 2024 list is going to look drastically different than this time last year as top pitching prospects Paul Skenes and Jared Jones no longer qualify. Skenes is likely the frontrunner to win National League Rookie of the Year while Jones also had a fine first season with the Pirates.

Skenes topped our list last year, but our new No. 1 is another pitching prospect in Bubba Chandler, who split time between Double-A and Triple-A this season and emerged as our unanimous choice.

There are several 2024 draft choices who make their debuts in our top 30, led by first-rounder Konnor Griffin, who was selected with the ninth pick. Fellow 2024 draftees Levi Sterling and Wyatt Sanford are also in the top 10.

Without further ado, here’s what we came up with.

  1. RHP Bubba Chandler
  2. INF/OF Konnor Griffin
