Pete Alonso Makes Decision On Scott Boras During MLB Free Agency

This free agency period might not have gone the way Pete Alonso anticipated but the four-time All-Star reportedly isn't looking to make any changes to his representation.

Per Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet: "A source said MLB agents have recently been informed they cannot contact Pete Alonso. This would have to be initiated by Alonso himself. Evidently, Alonso wants to continue working with his agent Scott Boras without hearing from other agents looking to poach him."

The power-hitting first baseman has still yet to sign with spring training right around the corner.

Alonso slugged 34 home runs with 88 RBI in 2024, which many viewed as a down year for the 30-year-old.

The two-time Silver Slugger turned things around in the postseason though with some clutch moments on the way to New York's NLCS appearance.

The Mets were big spenders this offseason, signing Yankees outfielder Juan Soto to a historic 15-year, $765 million deal — which comes out to roughly $315,000 per game for the life of the contract — the biggest in MLB history by far.

Alonso has been one of the game's premier right-handed power bats since arriving in the Bigs and smacking 53 homers in his 2019 Rookie of the Year campaign.

And while the two-time Home Run Derby champ has yet to top that mark in the five seasons since, he's only a couple years removed from going 46 and 118  — albeit with a career-low .217 batting average.

Pete is a fan favorite in Queens. But with each passing day, a return to his spot in the Metropolitans lineup looks more and more unlikely.
