Philadelphia Phillies Starting Pitcher Ranger Suarez had a career night on Tuesday, May 21 against the Texas Rangers. Suarez matched his career-high by punching out 10 Rangers over seven innings of work in Philadelphia’s 5-2 victory. He last amassed 10 strikeouts in a no decision he took on September 10, 2023, against the Miami Marlins.

Suarez surrendered five allows while allowing one earned run in another masterful performance on Tuesday evening. He notched his league-leading ninth win in what has been a standout 2024 campaign thus far. Suarez is 9-0 this season with an ERA of 1.36. With a 1.36 ERA, Suarez is second in all of Major League Baseball behind only Shota Imanaga of the Chicago Cubs.

According to mlb.com, Suarez is the first pitcher to start 9-0 with a sub-1.50 ERA through 10 starts since Hall of Famer Juan Marichal did so in 1966. Marichal would go on to finish the ’66 season with a 25-6 record and a 2.23 ERA.

Suarez made his debut in Major League Baseball as a member of the Philadelphia Phillies in 2018. He has had a stellar career and has a career record of 38-21 with a 3.18 ERA.
