The Philadelphia Phillies and the Texas Rangers made a trade early on Thursday morning, with the Phillies adding another option out of the bullpen to their roster.

According to a post on Twitter/X, the Phillies have sent minor league right-handed pitcher Enrique Segura to the Rangers in exchange for right-handed pitcher Daniel Robert. Robert was then optioned to Lehigh Valley Triple-A.

Robert is a 30-year-old reliever who has only one stint in the Major Leagues. In 2024, Robert pitched in four games for the Rangers, going five and two-thirds innings with a 3.18 ERA. He earned a win and struck out six batters in his brief Major League appearance in 2024.

So far in 2025 for the Rangers' Triple-A affiliate, Robert has a 1.54 ERA in 11 and two-thirds innings pitched. He has two saves and three holds with a zero and zero record.

Robert has an impressive strikeout-to-walk ratio, with 17 strikeouts to just four walks so far in 2025.

His 2024 Minor League season was also impressive, as he had a 2.70 ERA across 43 and one-third innings pitched. He struck out 52 batters while walking just 13. Batters that faced him had just a .144 batting average in 2024 as well.

The player the Phillies sent for Robert, Segura, is just 20 years old and has been pitching with the Clearwater Threshers in the Phillies' farm system. In 2025, Segura has a 3.18 ERA and 19 strikeouts across 17 innings pitched.

Robert becomes another right-handed bullpen option for the Phillies and could make his way to the Major Leagues sometime during the 2025 season if the Phillies' bullpen issues continue.
