Philadelphia Phillies superstar Bryce Harper is in his fourteenth MLB season, having made his big-league debut for the Washington Nationals in 2012.
The 32-year-old veteran established himself as an offensive force in Washington, winning NL Rookie of the Year honors, capturing NL MVP in 2015, and earning six All-Star selections over a seven-year span.
That success led to the largest free-agent contract in MLB history at the time—a 13-year, $330 million deal with the Phillies.
In Philadelphia, Harper continued to excel, securing his second MVP award in 2021 and adding two more All-Star selections.
Harper returned to the Phillies’ lineup on July 1 after missing time with right wrist inflammation. He’d been placed on the injured list on June 7 (retroactive to June 6), and the inflammation resembled a wrist issue he battled last year—one he initially tried to play through before the pain intensified.
Since rejoining the club, he’s been on a tear. In Monday’s series opener against the Boston Red Sox, he made franchise history, becoming the first Phillies player in over a century to record 13 extra-base hits in an eight-game span.
Bryce Harper is first Phillies player (since at least 1901) to have 13 extra-base hits in an eight-game span. Last Phillies player with 12: Odubel Herrera (June 4-11, 2017).

Over his last seven games, Harper has collected 10 hits in 24 at-bats, three home runs, six RBIs, four walks and one stolen base, and has posted an impressive 1.542 OPS.
The Phillies will need him to maintain his MVP-caliber play as they battle in a tightly contested race for first place in the NL East with the New York Mets.
