The Philadelphia Phillies have turned their season around after relieving former manager Rob Thomson of his duties. Under Don Mattingly, Philadelphia has gone 10-3, and they now sit just three games under .500 after their disastrous month of April.
As the Phillies begin to get back on track, they are still searching for contributions from several everyday players, including second baseman Bryson Stott. The 28-year-old is known for his excellent defense up the middle, but his bat broke out last year and he became a force at the bottom of the lineup.
Unfortunately, that success has not carried into 2026. Stott has posted a .213 batting average, a .262 on-base percentage, a .622 OPS, three home runs and 15 RBIs across 35 appearances.
There is still plenty of time for Stott to turn it around as the season progresses. The Phillies have an off day on Monday as they prepare to travel to Fenway Park for a series against the Boston Red Sox.
Stott used the off day to share a personal update. Stott and his wife, Dru Stott, announced that their family will be growing. In a collaborative post, they revealed that Dru is expecting, sharing a series of photos featuring the couple and their two young children, a daughter named Braxtyn (born November 2023) and a son named Jaxson (born July 2025).
The caption included a light joke about their family having one girl and one boy already. “Tie-breaker, advantage GIRL Another blessing coming September 26',” it read.
As Stott prepares to enter fatherhood again and his family continues to grow, he will look to use the moment as added motivation to turn his season around.
Stott is now in his fifth year with Philadelphia. He has spent his entire career with the organization, drafted in the first round of the 2019 MLB Draft and developed through the minor-league system before debuting in 2022.
With the Phillies climbing back toward contention, Stott’s ability to rediscover his offensive form could play a meaningful role in how far this team goes.
