The Philadelphia Phillies have featured one of the best offensive groups in the league, leading the franchise to back-to-back NL East titles. Kyle Schwarber’s efforts this season have carried the team’s offense as some of the superstars around him have slumped or missed time.
The 32-year-old designated hitter is having arguably the best season of his 11-year MLB career. Schwarber entered Wednesday with an MLB-leading 130 RBIs and an NL-leading 54 home runs. Over 157 appearances prior to Wednesday’s game, Schwarber posted a .241 batting average, .367 on-base percentage, .929 OPS. He earned his second All-Star selection as a member of the Phillies (third overall).
Before Wednesday’s game against the Miami Marlins, Schwarber had mashed 22 of his 54 home runs against left-handed pitching, tying the MLB record for home runs against lefties as a left-handed bat.
In the bottom of the third inning, Schwarber crushed his 55th home run of the year off Marlins starting pitcher, southpaw Ryan Weathers, which meant he solidified himself in MLB history with the most home runs as a left-handed hitter against left-handed pitching with 23 (h/t The Athletic’s Matt Gelb).
Kyle Schwarber's 23 home runs against a lefty this season are the most in Major League Baseball history for a lefty batter vs. lefty pitcher.

This is yet another incredible feat that Schwarber has reached this year, as he continues to headline a star-studded lineup. If Schwarber is able to carry the Phillies on a deep postseason run and bring home a World Series title, it would be the second of his career.
Schwarber is set to hit unrestricted free agency at the season’s end and will likely command a lucrative deal despite entering his age-33 season in 2026. He has shown no signs of slowing down and there is mutual interest in a reunion between Schwarber and the front office.
For now, the focus will remain on making a deep postseason run, but Schwarber has solidified himself as one of the most dangerous left-handed hitters the league has ever seen.
