Phillies Make Decision on No. 2 Prospect Aidan Miller

Entering the the 2026 MLB season, each of the Phillies’ three top ranked prospects in Andrew Painter, Aidan Miller and Justin Crawford were expected to make noise on the big league roster.

That became a reality for both Painter and Crawford.

Painter had a rough start to his career, causing him to be demoted back to Triple-A before an eventually recall. Since being recalled, Painter has turned into the young arm the Phillies’ need and will be an x-factor for the team in October. The 23-year-old has posted a 3.12 ERA in his last seven starts.

Crawford has emerged as the teams’ starting center fielder despite his struggles at the plate overall. His long swing makes him prone to chase, but the rookie has been nothing if not clutch for the team, hitting .341 with RISP.

It has been a different story for the Phillies No. 2 prospect Miller, who had to be shut down this year due to back injury. After months of speculation on Miller’s future, he was finally sent on a rehab assignment to Single-A Clearwater Threshers, where he ripped a double in his first at bat since March.

On Tuesday, it was announced that the 22-year-old has been transferred to Double-A Reading to continue his progression.
