The Philadelphia Phillies are expected to be active at the July 31 deadline, so it’s time to submit trade proposals. Even after signing relief pitcher David Robertson, the Phillies still need to address the bullpen. Additionally they could use a right-handed outfield bat. Regarding the bullpen, Matt Gelb of The Athletic recently reported that the team is most interested in players under team control beyond the 2025 season. However, it remains to be seen what the Phillies will do at the July 31 trade deadline. In the past few years, under the presidency of baseball operations Dave Dombrowksi, the team has made minor deadline moves. Dombrowski has not made a blockbuster deadline deal in his current role.

Phillies Trade Proposals

Deal #1 – Baltimore Orioles

Phillies Receive: Félix Bautista + Ramón Laureano

Orioles Receive: Aidan Miller + Jean Cabrera

The Phillies need a shutdown closer like Bautista. Furthermore, Bautista is under team control through the 2027 season. This season, Bautista has a 1-1 record with a 2.60 ERA and 19 saves in 35 outings. To add to that, Bautista has a 2.17 K/BB rate and a 1.13 WHIP this year. Cedric Mullins has been mentioned as a trade candidate for the Phillies. However, of the Orioles outfielders, Laureano makes more sense as a right-handed hitter. Mullins is a free agent after this season. Laureano has a .276/.340/.498 line with 11 home runs and 36 RBI this season in 71 games. To add, Laureano has a 132 wRC+ and a .338 BABIP this year. Laureano, like Mullins, is a free agent after this season.

Deal #2 – Boston Red Sox

Phillies Receive: Jarren Duran

Red Sox Receive: Mick Abel + Justin Crawford + Eduardo Tait + Moises Chace

Jim Bowden of The Athletic reported in a column that the Phillies have interest in acquiring Duran. The Red Sox have a surplus of outfielders, and Duran appears to be the odd one out. One roadblock to this deal for the Phillies is that the Red Sox are unlikely to trade Aroldis Chapman, given their recent turnaround. Additionally, the Red Sox’s asking price for Duran would probably be astronomical. Duran has a .257/.322/.427 line with eight home runs and 50 RBI in 100 games this season. To add, Duran has a 104 wRC+ and a .328 BABIP this year. Duran is under team control through the 2028 season. That is part of why the Red Sox asking price for Duran will be significant.

Deal #3 – Minnesota Twins

Phillies Receive: Jhoan Duran + Harrison Bader

Twins Receive: Aroon Escobar + Hendry Mendez + Alex McFarlane + Griffin Burkholder.

The Phillies are reportedly interested in trading for Duran, who would help improve the bullpen. This season, Duran has a 5-4 record with a 1.62 ERA and 15 saves in 45 outings. Furthermore, Duran has a 3.13 K/BB rate along with a 1.13 WHIP this year. Duran is under team control through the 2027 season. Griffin Jax is another relief pitcher the Phillies could acquire from the Twins. Meanwhile, Bader has a .253/.335/.445 line with 12 home runs and 36 RBI in 87 games this season. Bader has a 118 wRC+ and a .301 BABIP this year. It is also worth noting that Bader has a mutual option for the 2026 season. If that option is declined, Bader will become a free agent this offseason.
