Pirates’ farm clubs picked up a pair of wins on Wednesday, with P.J. Hilson recording a multi-homer game for the second time in the past week. Hilson was just one of several young Bucs to continue a hot streak, as Termarr Johnson and Matt Fraizer enjoyed excellent days at the plate.
Triple-A Indianapolis mounted a late-inning comeback against the Iowa Cubs, forcing the game to extra innings… although they eventually fell 8-7 via walkoff in the 11th.
The Altoona Curve rebounded to shut out the Erie Sea Wolves 2-0, with Sean Sullivan pitching six scoreless innings and a two-run eighth proving the difference.
The Greensboro Grasshoppers hosted a homer party, hitting five home runs as they worked to erase an early 10-2 deficit. They managed to tie the game in the bottom of the ninth, but eventually fell 14-12 in the 10th.
The Bradenton Marauders cruised to a 7-1 victory. Antwone Kelly kicked things off with four scoreless innings, punching out seven batters in the process.
